What this tool does
FSSAI Label Check reads print-ready label artwork — a PDF or Adobe Illustrator file — and checks it against the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020. It reports what is missing or non-compliant, each finding tied to the exact clause it comes from.
What it checks
- Mandatory declarations: name of food, ingredient list, nutritional information, FSSAI logo and licence number, net quantity, MRP, consumer-care details, batch number and date marking.
- Minimum letter and numeral heights on the principal display panel, measured in millimetres against the Regulation 6(3) size table.
- The vegetarian and non-vegetarian symbol — which one is required, and whether it meets the Regulation 5(4)(c) size bands.
- Schedule-II warnings: added caffeine, polyols, artificial sweeteners, monosodium glutamate, plant sterols and more, triggered by the ingredients.
- Nutrition-panel arithmetic, including energy against the prescribed 4 / 9 / 4 kcal conversion factors, and per-serve % contribution to RDA.
